In keeping with current events and former President Trump announcing JD Vance as his choice for Vice President, Barry’s fellowship centered on Vice Presidents who had facial hair.  The last VP with facial hair was Harry Truman.  Barry then listed some of the best VP’s or people who ran for that office included Richard Nixon, Lyndon Johnson, Al Gore, and Dick Cheney.  Some of the worst listed were Tom Eagleton, Spiro Agnew, Geraldine Ferraro, Dan Quayle & Sarah Palin.

Membership Minute:  Stan Lucas asked everyone to identify at least one person to invite into the club under Rodney’s year as President.  Let’s keep the ball rolling with new members!

Rodney passed around a number of “thank you” letters from area organizations who were the recipients of Norwich Rotary donations.

If there is a Rotarian who is sick or going through a tough time let the Sunshine Committee know and contact Mary Richardson or Nancy Gentes.

Rodney said if you like his Rotary blazer, let him know and he can furnish the information on the company who makes the blazer as well as many other Rotary clothing items.

Happy Dollars:  Barry Shead

Barry Shead has tickets to the ARC Murder Mystery Night on July 20th at the Mashantucket Museum.  See him for seats.  He also announced he finished dead last in a road race he ran in over the weekend.  74 runners and he came in 74th!  He finished!  Finally he is pleased to be leaving on an Alaskan cruise this week!

Bill Champagne reminded that in light of the Vice President fellowship that when Lincoln was assassinated Norwich’s Lafayette Foster was vice president at that time.

Gary Young gave dollars for Steve Martin and Kelly Whipple.  He also told members that there is at least one gallon of gas left in the hose when you go to a gas pump.  So if someone has pumped high octane before you use the pump there is some savings there.

Margarita Querido announced she has left the brokerage she was with and has started with a new brokerage company.  She is also happy to be celebrating her husband’s 60th birthday with a big family birthday cruise.  She’s trying to keep the celebration a secret!

Mike Matera said he’s having a great summer so far!  Tonight he’s traveling to Citi Field in Queens to see a Foo Fighters Concert with his son!

Jeff Brining had a great time with family at Lake George white water rafting!  The water however was really cold!

Pat Marshall just returned from the Jersey shore at her son’s cottage.  They made a raft for her dog Quincy to float around on!  The Air Conditioning is still not working at the Norwichtown Convalescent Home so Quincy can’t go to work with her.  She warned that Covid is making a comeback so be careful!  She also just celebrated her 75th Birthday!

Andy Nollman gave for Barry and for Holly’s dress!  He also had high praise for Bella Fiore for the excellent job they did on hosting his parent’s 60th Wedding Anniversary event.

Cara Westcott had a great vacation on Lake Ontario.  She’s also proud of her daughter with her new job.

Mike Cooney had praise for Barry.  His son Matt was elected a leader in his scout pack and his daughter Katie has been working on her softball swing!

Mike Goldblatt bought his wife Rosa a new necklace for her 73rd birthday, but he’s not so sure if she really likes it.  Looks like another trip to the jewelry store!

Mandy Crispim said it’s her 2nd day back to work since her surgery and it looks like the future is bright and all issues are behind her.  She thanked everyone for their support, especially Margarita for bringing her food when she was discharged from the hospital!

AuctionSteve Martin auctioned off a Golf 4-some donated to the club from ARC for a tournament at Lake of Isles on August 12th.  $650.00 value.  Mike Matera, Rodney Green, Gary Young and Stan Lucas pitched in and are going golfing for only $200.00!

Gary Young also had an auction item for a 1 night stay at the Holiday Inn at either Mystic or New London.  Molly Bruno was the high bigger at $50.00!  Gary said the proceeds will go to the Golf Tournament.

LotterySusy Hurlbert, Andy Nollman & Cara Westcott could not find the Ace of Spades!  Susy then won Barry’s ARC Cookies!
