Anniversaries:  Stan Lucas – February 1st – 45 Years!!!!

Guests:  Cara Trantalis from UCFS, Molly Bruno introduced Margarita Martins-Querido and Rodney Green introduced his wife Lucille Green.

Visiting Rotarians:  None.

Membership Minute:  Stan Lucas reminded members to invite prospective members to a lunch and let’s keep the ball rolling growing the club.  More members mean more we can do in the community to benefit everyone.

Announcements:

President Mary reminded everyone, Dr. Manny Kadish is turning 100 on February 2nd!  She asked that members send cards and well wishes to him c/o The Cottage at Stoneridge, 186 Jerry Brown Road, Mystic, CT 06355.

President Mary said that any member who wishes to have an updated badge should let her know as she’s submitting an order for our new members to receive their new ones.

The club is participating in this year’s Norwich St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 3rd.  Mike Goldblatt will lend his 1942 Caddie Convertible and members are invited to march behind and represent Rotary! 

The 4 Way Speech Contest will take place on April 20th.

The Whisky, Wine and Cigar event will be back again on May 1stat Bella Fiore.  Edwin Muenzner, CPA has signed on as the Food Sponsor!  Tickets will go on sale on March 1st.  $75.00 per person.

The Rotary “Day of Service” will be May 18th.  Last year over 11,000 meals were packaged for the Gemma Moran- United Way Food Center.  This year Area Rotary Clubs hope to package double that number!  Mark your calendar now to donate a few hours of your time at 3 Rivers College in Norwich. 

The Native Son/Daughter Lunch is scheduled for June 5th.  Submit a candidate and you can find an application on the Rotary website.  

Members are encouraged to fill out a donation form and donate to the Rotary Clock Project.

Happy Dollars: Nancy Gentes

Nancy started thing off to say she had a great visit up in Enfield with her grandchildren.  She saw them play a number of youth basketball games and she said they play rough!

Stan Lucas said he had a nice visit last week to California to meet with a friend.  Stan was his best man 54 years ago!  He went on to Hilo, Hawaii to see his son Mason.  Then he slapped down $45.00 in honor of his 45 years in Rotary!

Gary Young said at the age of 77 he now needs both glasses and hearing aids!

Rodney Green gave $40.00 to announce that he has been in business for 40 years at Olde Tymes!

Mary Richardson welcomed our guests and said she was happy to receive news earlier in the day that her sister in London had her knee replacement surgery and it went well.  She has a great view if Buckingham Palace from her hospital window!

Jeff Brining said he had a wonderful time in New Hampshire on the snow machines!

Pat Marshall gave $20.00 to say that part of her job is to give comfort to the residents of the Norwichtown Rehab and Convalescent Home as one had just experienced a loss of a loved one due to suicide.  She also love to meet the dogs of visitors as well has introducing her Pug around there. 

Barry Shead said that the comedy show he took part in raised more than $26,000!  More than expected!  Barry was a big hit!!

Andrew Nollman welcomed our guests and gave kudos to Jeff Brining and NPU for keeping the lights on!  He also said him mom’s surgery went well!

Kevin Wickless congratulated Stan on 45 years in Rotary and thanked him for sponsoring him into the club.  He was sorry that the Detroit Lions fell short of getting to the Super Bowl but was happy for such a great season!  His daughter has been accepted to a number of great colleges and has also been offered Scholarships to many of them!

Weekly Auction:  Bonnie Johnson auctioned off a candy dish!  Steve martin was the high bidder at $20.00!

Lottery:  Pat Marshall

Kevin Wickless, Lucille Green and Pat Marshall tried to find the Ace-of-Spades but could not!  Rodney Green won Barry’s ARC Cookies which he shared with everyone! 

Program:

Mary Richardson introduced Emily Alves and Mary Tramontozzi from the Uncas Health District who did a great job explaining all the services that the UHD provides throughout the 11 towns on our region.  For more information log on to www.uncashd.org  

The 4-Way Test was led by Bonnie Johnson and the meeting was adjourned at 1:14pm
