- Putting contest today to raise funds for the Sept. 4 golf tournament. All participants received a Klondike bar (dark chocolate!) courtesy of Gary Young. He also will bring in bid sheets to get bids going for the silent auction.
- Celebrate Cultural Diversity is Sept. 16. Tickets are online now. The Peace Pole rededication is Sept. 17. The One World Multicultural Variety show is Sept. 20.
- The Healthy Living Festival is Sept. 28 at Dodd Stadium. Mike Matera needs volunteers beginning at 9 a.m. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- The Happy Dollars Fund is available for needy recipients.
Happy Dollars: with Andy Grant, wearing his lucky beer socks. He is a big supporter of Gary’s golf effort.
- Kevin Wickless for Suki Lagrito. Kevin went to exchange student training on Tuesday. Our student is coming from Argentina in August and will go to NFA. Two other students are coming into the district – a French boy who will stay in East Hampton and a Danish girl who will stay in Weston.
- Mike Matera got back from a buying show in Las Vegas on Tuesday. After having a large breakfast, he decided to walk to the show – where he saw very large brown grasshoppers. “It was quite the scene,” he said. For more on this invasion of biblical proportions, click here.
- Gary Young played golf with his friend, who he has known since he was six.
- Rodney Greene is having a busy catering season. All the events feature stuffed mushroom. Mushrooms are grown indoors in manure-based compost. Rodney shared, in some detail, the process in which all this happens, and some history of the Franklin mushroom farm.
- Andrew Nollman thanked Rodney for the mushroom facts.
- Mike Cooney missed last week while at Cub Scout day camp with his son and six other 6-year-olds, including one who required a lot (really, a lot) of attention.
- Lottie Scott thinks Zachariah and Suki are the most wonderful volunteers for the city, and she appreciates their creativity. She also wants to support “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” this opens this weekend at the Chestnut Street Playhouse. She also enjoyed lunch – an indoor barbecue of burgers, hot dogs, chicken, baked beans and more. Good stuff!
Auction: Ray Baribault danced his way to the front of the room, where he auctioned a $25 Friendly’s gift card for $25 to Katherine Tracy. Lest you think it was a wash, remember she got free delivery!
Lottery: With Paul Blanchard. Mike Matera, Lottie Scott and Katherine Tracy all came up short.
