Announcements:

  • Madonna Place Trivia Challenge is on November 15th.
  • Dues Invoices – Online Payment will be available when we get new account numbers.
  • Liberty Bank Turkey Drive – $20 challenge.
  • Save the date for coats – November 6th.
  • The Happy Dollars Fund is available for needy recipients.
  • Thank you to all who volunteered for the Dictionary Project.

 

Happy Dollars:  with Barry Shead whose son has finished two years of school in Florida.

  • Jim Daly gave for the Thanksgiving challenge.
  • Gary Young gave for the Dictionary Project.  He would like to speak to someone on the Board of Education about having only unisex bathrooms in grade schools.
  • Mike Cooney gave for the kids being okay when they lost power and he was sick.  Katie loves the Princess Bride.  Mike gave for the Dictionary Project volunteers and for Jen Granger’s great organization of the Project.
  • John Bradshaw took his grandchildren bicycling at a former airbase.
  • Larry took a fall at a bowling alley.  He was glad that the Browns didn’t lose.  (They didn’t play).
  • Andrew gave for the challenge and for his father-in-law moving into an assisted living facility.

 

Auction:  Not today

 

Lottery:  with Bill Champagne.  Gary started off with the deck being face side up.  The situation was remedied, but the ace was not to be found by Gary, Nancy or Keith.

 

Program:  Mike introduced John Bradshaw who spoke about the many shared values there are between Rotary and Scouting.  John has been the Scoutmaster for 30 years of Troop 71 in North Stonington and is a member of the International Fellowship of Scouting Rotarians.  John paralleled the history of each organization, as well as his own experiences with both groups.

 

Mike closed the meeting with the story of Mandy Patinkin who used the loss of his father to inspire his performance in the Princess Bride.
