During the Victorian era human hair was used in jewelry.  In Japan they wash their hair twice a day on average.

Happy Dollars: – Rodney Green

*Rodney had an egg update!  This week the price dropped a little to 2.63 a dozen.  He also had many trees removed around his house.  He says everyone is telling him that it looks great.  He thinks it just seems weird!  He said he’s also busy feeding the staff at the Preston Incinerator during their 3 week shutdown.  He also had a very fully story about getting a haircut years ago that didn’t go well and Lucille didn’t even recognize him!

*Mary Richardson had Happy Dollars to welcome all our guests.

*Mike Gordon gave in honor of his 39 years in Rotary.  He was glad he attended today’s meeting to be reminded as he said he usually forgets his own birthday and anniversary!  He also had a funny story about his grandson playing T-Ball.

*Mike Cooney had fun at Fenway Park last week with his family.  His son Matt got a double at his Little League game last week against the best pitcher in the league.  His daughter Katie’s birthday party was rained out and had to be held indoors!

*Bill Champagne said he attended the Lottie Scott presentation last week along with other Rotarians and it was fun and inspiring and he was honored to attend.

*Mike Matera said his son’s baseball season has started and he was proud of his son hitting a double against a very good pitcher.  Mike also said the Surplus Unlimited Office Furniture is having a huge sale this weekend and 20% of all sales by Rotarians will go to benefit the Haitian Health Foundation.

*Barry Shead said that Susy’s Fellowship was “hairy!”  He also said he had a great time on a cruise last week.  People wore no masks for the most part. Next week bring your bottle and cans for the ARC.

*Kathleen Tracy has Duck Race tickets so see her if you want to buy ducks!  She reported the Cultural Diversity Event will take place in September.  Details to follow.

*Gary Young said God knows every hair on your head!  He also had a Little League story about when he was a kid his dad would give him .25 cents for a single, .50 cents for a double, .75 cents for a triple and a dollar for a home run!  He said he could make more money in one game than doing yard work for a week!

*Terry Szymanski gave for Cultural Diversity Day and it’s good to collaborate on this evet with the Noon Club.

*Kathy Chinigo said the Woman’s City Club will be holding a Downton Abbey Tea event on May 21st.  $30.00 a ticket.  She also had a very heartwarming story about her son playing Little League Baseball for year ago.

*Molly Bruno had a good time at the District Conference and enjoyed hearing about all the projects that the clubs in our district do.

Auction:

Jim Daly donated $20.00!  Andy Nollman then auctioned off 2 seats to the Meet the Author Event for the Otis Library.  Susy Hurlbert as the high bidder at $50.00.

Weekly Rotary Trivia:  stay tuned for the next question the 1st Wednesday in May!

Lottery: – Bill Champagne

Mike Matera, Mary Richardson & Mike Gordon drew cards to no avail!  Kathleen Tracy was the winner of the bag of cookies from the ARC!

Program:

Andrew Nollman held a Club Assembly to determine the future of the club as to date there was noboy stepping up to fill the President-Elect position.  After discussing many options and ways the duties of the position could be spread out among the membership, Mary Richardson spoke up and agreed to take on the President-Elect seat.  Thunderous applause followed.  THANK YOU MARY!  There was also discussion of moving the meeting to a new location as the club is losing close to $10,000 a year in its present location.  Everyone agreed that the club should continue to meet weekly and other locations such as Otis Library or the Norwich Senior Center could be a option and members could possibly brown bag it like we did during Covid meetings.

At 1:15pm Bill Champagne led the club with the 4-Way Test and the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

Bob Reed – RONE Reporter
