Dr. Michael F. Morosky, the chief of obstetrics and gynecology at Johnson Memorial Medical Center in Stafford Springs is the Norwich Rotary Club and Norwich Woman’s City Club 2017 Norwich Native Son award recipient, honored by both organizations at a luncheon held at noon May 24, 2017 at the Holiday Inn in Norwich.
Morosky is also chairman of the Perioperative and Perinatal committees at the hospital. He has delivered more than 6,700 babies, well above the 2,000 to 3,000 in a typical career.
“We had several qualified applicants this year, which made our decision a little challenging,” Norwich Rotary Vice-President James Daly, chairman of the nominations review panel, said. “I am very proud of the hard work and effort the committee members put in to reach this decision.”
Morosky is a Norwich Free Academy graduate and attended college at the University of Connecticut. He has 40 years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology and is a founding member of Connecticut Multispecialty Group and a corporator at Hartford Hospital. He lives in Glastonbury.
Morosky also served in the U.S. Air Force, where he was the chairman of obstetrics and gynecology at Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal during his six years of service.
He practiced at Hartford Hospital for 20 years and has held a clinical teaching position at the UConn School of Medicine for more than 30 years. Morosky enjoys spending free time with his children and grandchildren.
