*Susy Hurlbert had the following announcements:

*Dues bills will be sent out later in January.  Please submit payment promptly.

*The Rotary 4-Way Test Speech Event will be happening soon.  The Morning Club is taking the lead on this and will be soliciting members to be judges.  Please consider volunteering for this worthwhile student competition.

*The Native Son/Daughter Lunch will take place in June and our club will be sponsoring the event along with the Norwich Woman’s City Club.

*The “No Show Gala” will be returning later in January!  Plan on donating so you can spend a wonderful evening at home and not showing up to a gala!

*Susy said she was hoping Kindness Gardens will be purchased by all the Norwich Schools.  She’s still waiting for a response from the Superintendent’s office.

*Rotarians are encouraged to please invite prospective members for lunch and introduce them to the world of Rotary.

Happy Dollars: – Nancy Gentes

*Nancy started things wishing everyone Happy New Year and was wondering when it will be time to stop saying it!   She also gave for Ray’s great fellowship of puns!!

*Bill Champagne said after he and his wife Patrice stayed healthy for two years Patrice got sick over the holidays.  They ended up celebrating joint Christmas, Birthday’s, New Year’s all at once with the family!  Fierce competitions of card games and basketball followed!

*Andy Nollman had great praise for Jeff Bruning and Norwich Public Utilities for their prompt assistance during the storm over the Christmas weekend.  A huge tree came down next to his house and knocked out power.  NPU cleaned up the mess and restored power before the temps dropped to frigid levels.  Any’s cat was especially happy as the basement was the cat’s home during the duration.

*Mike Matera played in his families UNO card tournament.  A kitty of $85.00 was donated to charity by the winner!

*Mike Cooney said his 9 year old daughter had cat hair in her ear that caused a painful earache.  Who knew cat hair could cause an earache?

*Jeff Bruning had $10.00 happy dollars to wish everyone a happy new year and was happy Andrew was pleased with the NPU’s service.  He also spent the holiday’s at home with family as well as time in a cabin at Lake George in upstate New York filled with 9 people.  Skiing also took place at Tupper Lake.

*Jim Daly whished everyone a happy new year and said if you have not received a shingles shot get one!  He has had the shingles and he said it’s NO FUN!

*Susy Hurlbert also had kudos for NPU.  Her new year’s resolution will be to work less and keep her life balanced.  She also said her son who has been living in South Korea for the past 2 years has moved to Croatia in pursuit of a new job.
