Announcements:
*Mary Richardson had the following announcements:
*NEXT WEEKS MEETING ON JUNE 30th will be the Change of Command and will be during our regularly scheduled time at noon at the Courtyard Marriott.
*If you know of anyone who would be a good speaker at one of our Rotary Meetings contact Bob Farwell or Kevin Wickless. Speakers can be done virtual (ZOOM) as well if needed.
*Gary Young reminded us that the Rotary Golf Tournament will be on September 1st. Golfers, sponsors and volunteers are still needed.
*The $5,000 is now in hand to purchase the 20,000 diapers and an order will be places when it is determined who can accommodate the order and give the best price. Mike Matera will receive the order and help is needed from members to package and distribute.
Happy Dollars: Barry Shead
*Barry started things off with expecting this summer to be busy for him as his son Keith got married last March during the Covid period and had to have a very small wedding. They plan to renew their vows in August with a big reception to make up for lost time! Also, he is planning a wedding vow renewal of his own in Las Vegas at an Elvis Chapel with “The King” himself presiding!
*Rodney Green brought some left over food to our meeting from the meals he provided for 240 National Guardsmen. Rodney also conveyed a story from 1982 with a Vegas Elvis story and a 17,000 drive in his car around the country!
*Mike Matera gave happy dollars for a honeymoon story from 2007 that he and his wife experienced in the Florida Keys and they ran straight into “Fantasy Fest” in Key West! He also had a story of his 1949 Ford Tractor that he still used and runs great!
*Susy Hurlbert gave to thank Mary Richardson for her year leading the club and that she will be away on vacation next week and regrets she will miss the Change of Command. She also welcomed today’s guest speaker Kyle Clark.
*Lottie Scott gave $20.00 happy dollars to tell us that her longtime friend and companion Clifford has finally stopped asking her to marry him after 20 years of her saying no! She said she loves Clifford dearly so why ruin a good thing!
*Bob Reed had happy dollars for a wedding story of sorts when he and Mary were in Saratoga at the horse races and Mary bet of a real longshot horse named “Vegas Wedding”. Bob said if that glue factory candidate came in 1st he’s agree to fly Mary to Vegas and renew their vows at an Elvis Chapel. Well, the horse came in 1st, Mary won close to $400.00 and Bob’s still trying to figure out how to get out of his promise!
Gary Young gave to welcome his guests Peter Charron and Dan King.
Mike Cooney had his last game of the season coaching his son’s little league team. The players honored him with a jersey and mug! Pizza as eaten after the game and it was a great season. Now he’s on to Cub Scout camping this weekend!
Auction: Mary Richardson auctioned a Rose bush that was of the Carpet Rose variety. After some spirited bidding Barry Shead took the bush for $30.00!
Lottery: Bill Champagne: Rodney Green, Susy Hurlbert and Bob Reed drew cards to no avail however each were awarded a package of Cracker Jack! A forth ticket was drawn for a package of cookies from ARC courtesy of Barry Shead. Gary Young graciously shared his good fortune with the rest of us!
Program: Susy Hurlbert introduced Kyle Clark from National Property Inspections who gave a very in depth talk on inspecting roofs, windows and all aspects of inspecting a home for sale or purchase. For more information log on to Kyle’s webpage for full details at https://www.npiweb.com/newlondoncounty
At 1:30pm Mary Richardson led the club members in the 4 Way Test and the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
