Two teams of Norwich Rotarians took part in the food packaging event at the Total Life Expo at Mohegan Sun on Saturday, November 10, 2018. The event was run by the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut.
We distributed 17 boxes with 36 packages in each. Each package feeds four, so that’s a total of 2,448 meals provided. We sent five boxes to Gemma Moran Food Bank, four boxes to UCFS Food Pantry, four boxes to the Haitian Health Foundation and four boxes to St. Vincent de Paul.
The Norwich Sunrise Rotary Club Team sent all their boxes to St. Vincent de Paul and the UCFS Team boxes went to the UCFS food pantry. The Norwich Rotary Community Corps also did a great job.
The event packaged 11,000 meals in total.
Thank you to Norwich Rotarian Jen Granger of UCFS for organizing our participation in the event, and thank you to all who participated!
