Happy Dollars: Nancy Gentes
Nancy gave Happy Dollars to say she’s happy to be healthy during the flu season!
Stan Lucas gave in honor of Gary Young’s wonderful haircut!
Bill Champagne informed the club that the Norwich Race Equity Committee will be conducting a free program at the Otis Library on Wednesday, February 5th in the Community Room with the topic being “Raising The Consciousness of Race Part 1-Black and White.” The presenters will be Mr. Tom Schuch, our own Ms. Lottie B. Scott, Lonnie Braxton II, ESQ and Patrice Champagne. The event is free and open to the public. Bill also remembered Jacqueline Pfeiffer who died last week. Jackie was a long standing member of the Rotary Club for many years.
Kathryn Tracey gave happy dollars for having perfect attendance since she has joined Norwich Rotary!
Andy Nollman won $27.00 on a scratch ticket!
Barry Shead Welcomed Yahara to the club. He has happy memories working with her when he was in banking.
Ray Baribeault had a very funny story related to his car being hit and dealing with the insurance company! Even Gary Young thought it was funny!
Gary Young loved Ray’s story. He said he and Stan got their butt’s kicked the night before playing tennis. He also relayed a sad story of a granddaughter of a member of the Adventure Club dying earlier in the week. Very sad.
Mike Cooney had sad dollars as the mother of his friend State Rep. Hathaway died. She was very generous to the scouts. A “Campership” will be established in her name. Mike woke up Saturday morning with a sore throat and cough. Doctor said it was not the Flu! Mike’s washing machine died as well and he bought a new one at Lowe’s and his kids had a ball riding the store in the Race Car carts!
Auction: No Auction.
Lottery: Paul Blanchard: Nancy Gentes, Barry Shead and Gary Young drew carefully, however there was no winner!
Program: Mike Cooney conducted a Club Assembly to discuss what the club should do for the 100th year anniversary in addition to what has already been planned. Some ideas that were voiced included building a playground like the one the club did in Greeneville a number of years ago. A Rotary Clock downtown, maybe in Franklin Square. Something at the Rose Garden. A keepsake insert in The Bulletin on the 100 years of the club, Banners at different locations around the city that NPU would put up. Feature’s in the Bulletin throughout the year celebrating “Moment’s in Norwich Rotary History.”
Gary Young led the club with the 4-Way Test.
President Mike Cooney ended the meeting at 1:25pm.
Respectfully submitted,
