AND PICK OTHERS UP WHENEVER THEY STUMBLE

 

AND WE THANK YOU MOSTLY FOR JUST BEING YOU

HELPING US BE TRUTHFUL AND FAIR IN ALL THAT WE DO

Ray entertained all with is famous puns!  “Cows have hooves because they lack toes!”  “My boss wants me to sign up for a 401K – No way am I running that far!”  Get the picture!  Much laughter and applause followed!

Membership Minute:  Stan Lucas said that things are moving forward with the “Rotary Talent Show Spectacular!”  Thursday, November 14th is the date at the Donald Oat Theatre.  He thanked Andrew Nollman and his Rose City Financial for sponsoring the event which will cover the cost of the theatre rental and sound man.  $25.00 a person and members are encouraged to invite guests.  Rodney Green will provide the food and beverage. 

Announcements:

The Health Living Festival will take place this Saturday at Dodd Stadium.  Rotary will have a table and volunteers are needed to man the table our club will have.  Event is 10am to 2pm.  Come and volunteer an hour or two. 

Madonna Place will be hosting a Trivial Pursuit Challenge again and Gary Young has assembled a Rotary team to compete again this year.

Please bring spare clean egg cartons and give them to Bonnie Johnson.  

If you know of a speaker for one of our meetings, please contact Kevin Wickless or Alexis Kahn to get on the schedule.   

If there is a Rotarian who is sick or going through a tough time let the Sunshine Committee know and contact Mary Richardson or Nancy Gentes.

Happy Dollars:  Jen Granger

Jen gave $20.00 to say she was glad to be back to Rotary.  She said that UCFS has opened a child care center at the Integrated Day Charter School.  The Rotary/ Liberty Bank Thanksgiving Challenge has now started and the suggested donation is $24.00.  Proceeds will be matched by Liberty Bank and Swartz Manor will be the recipients.  The Dictionary Project will be October 30th and dictionaries will be delivered to all 3rd grade students in the Norwich School System.  Volunteers will be needed to deliver starting at 9am and should be finished by the start of the weekly meeting. 

Gary Young gave $25.00 for the Thanksgiving Challenge and was happy to peoprt he missed the hurricane when he visited down south last week. 

Andy Nollman gave $25.00 for the Thanksgiving Challenge and said that he and friends saw the rock band Tesla at Foxwoods over the weekend and he didn’t get home until 2:30am!  Good time after at the Circle Bar!  Looking forward to camping this weekend.  Happy his sister-in-law has completed her chemo treatments and is doing good!

Mary Richardson Gave $24.00 for the Thanksgiving Challenge.  Thanked Nancy for running today’s meeting and all the work she does with District Grants.

Jeff Brining said his daughter is coming in 1st in all her cross country races and is beating many of the male runners.  He also said that crews from Norwich Public Utilities are down south helping with the hurricane situation. 

Kathryn Tracey gave $25.00 for the Thanksgiving Challenge!

Tom Adams gave $50.00 to the Thanksgiving Challenge!

Pat Marshall said she was in Boston at the interment of her uncle who died 82 years ago.  She is also going to Texas to a Giraffe sanctuary. 

Stan Lucas thanked Ryan Telford for the tickets to the Connecticut Sun game that he took his grandson to.  He also thanked Andrew Nollman for sponsoring the Talent Show.

Bill Champagne was happy to say he got a good report from his dermatologist. 

Susy Hurlbert said she has been enjoying the noodles that she was the high bidder on a couple weeks ago.  Susy also said that for $300.00 any member can get their name on the Rotary Clock. 

Bonnie Johnson gave to the Thanksgiving Challenge.  She said that her granddaughter is back playing volleyball after an injury.  She is also hosting friends from Vegas and is happy to have new shades on her boat!

Mike Goldblatt gave $40.00 to say he’s been busy going to a lot of car shows around the northeast.  Also a story of a difficult trip back from PA hauling a car trailer down I-95! 

Margarida Martins-Querido has returned from a cruise to the Bahamas celebrating her husband 50th birthday!  Also, had a big family party in Florida to celebrate the birthday with family as well! 

Nancy Gentes asked members to support the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer walk this weekend.

Gary Young, Margarida Martins-Querido and Jen Granger could not come up with the Ace of Spades.  Mary Richardson was the winner of the ARC Cookies!

Program:  No Program today.  Nancy Gentes did say she will be doing a program outlining District Grants in the near future.

Nancy called on Bonnie Johnson and she led the club with the 4-Way Test and the meeting was adjourned at 12:50pm.
