Ray ended his month of fellowship duties with some more puns! “The rotation of the earth…makes my day!” Ray read off some others that brought both applause and groans! We will miss the puns until Ray returns for fellowship in December!
Announcements:
*Andy had the following announcements:
*Andy thanked the following Rotarians for their help with the move to Bella Fiore! Mary Richardson, Mike Matera, Gary Young & Andy Grant. Andy also thanked any he forgot to mention.
*The Rotary Flag Project is moving forward and there will be a work party to be organized at the Rotary Flag Pole at Norwich Harbor.
*If you know of anyone who would be a good speaker at one of our Rotary Meetings contact Bob Farwell or Kevin Wickless. Speakers can be done virtual (ZOOM) as well if needed.
*The Rotary Golf Tournament will be on September 1st. Golfers, sponsors and volunteers are still needed. Crunch time and everyone needs to get involved!
*Andy reminded members to please invite prospective members to a lunch.
*”Clean-Up-The-Streets” program will take place on July 31st at Reliance House.
*The “National Night Out” will take place August 3rd at Brown Park from 4pm to 8pm.
*The Rotary Community Corps is looking for sponsors for the “Harbor Fire” event on August 21st on Norwich Harbor. Fire starts at 8pm.
*On September 25th the Norwich Chamber will be hosting a Healthy Living Event at Dodd Stadium! Mike Matera is looking for volunteers to man the Rotary “Amber Alert” booth from 10 to 2pm. Needs at least 4 volunteers!
*Roz Etra notified President Andy Nollman that Joel Etra has been ill and spent 12 days at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Joel is nor at the Norwichtown Rehab and can have visitors. Andy Nollman said he plans on visiting on Friday after 10am if any Rotarian wants to join him.
Happy Dollars: Andy Grant
*Andy started things off saying that he’s happy to have family visiting for the next few weeks.
*Andy Nollman gave $10.00 happy dollars as he attended his first live concert since Covid hit. He went to the Black Crows concert in Hartford and was able to secure seats in the 3rd row! Also said he has seen The Black Crows at least a dozen times since he was in college.
*Jay Waitte said his son was flying an F-22 reciently at the Navy “Top Gun” training School. The F-22’s were dogfighting with the F-18’s and the F-22’s had 199 kills to the F-18’s 1. Jay also said he used to do that sort of thing way back when he was flying for the Air Force!
*Mike Matera gave to say what a great time he had with his kids over the weekend at the Adventure Park and also out on his boat to Napatree Point where he spoke on Facetime with none other than musician Lenny Kravitz!
*Barry Shead has Pluck-a Duck Raffle tickets to raise money for the Putnam Business Association. The race will take place on August 22nd! See him for a chance to win excellent prizes!
*Jen Granger had happy dollars to say she was happy to be back at Bella Fiore for the Rotary Noon-time lunches even though it’s a longer trip to come to the meetings!
*Mary Richardson gave for all Ray Baribeault’s puns! She also had happy dollars for Harvey and Bella Fiore and to thank Jen Granger for help with an employee who could use her health services.
*Rodney Green gave to say how happy he was for the very successful Grand Re-Opening Saturday evening at the Chestnut Street Playhouse. He also thanked George Mattern for the work on the windows and Gary from Overhead Door for the new awnings that will be installed in the front of the building. The CSP Annual Golf Tournament will also take place on October 6th.
*Mike Cooney said he and his kids took a hike over the weekend at the Scout Camp and was then surprised by the amount of rain that followed. He also had a great vacation in New Hampshire with his family that included a trip to Santa’s Village.
*Bob Reed gave to thank Rodney Green for all he does for the Chestnut Street Playhouse and that he attended to event on Saturday night and it was wonderful.
Auction: Kathryn Tracey gave $20.00 for the Auction.
Lottery: Bill Champagne: Rodney Green (Twice) & Mary Richardson drew cards to no avail!
Program: There was no scheduled program for today. President Andy reminded all to bring guests and prospective members now that we have a great venue to meet at with lunch served.
At 12:55pm Barry Shead led the club members in the 4 Way Test and the meeting was adjourned.
