The Rone for September 27th, 2023

RONE- 9/27/23

President Mary Richardson called the meeting to order at 12:15pm.

Barry Shead delivered a short and sweet Invocation from none other than Paul Harris!

Fellowship- No Rotary anniversaries or birthdays.  Pat Marshall (Bill C) and Cindy Onofrio (Stan L) were guests.  No other Fellowship report today.

Announcements:

  • Rotary Golf- more to come in a few weeks
  • Turkey Drive starting next week 10/4/23. Happy Dollars raised thru 11/13 meeting will be matched .25 for each Happy Dollar and to support Schwartz Manor, as has been in our past.  Barry Shead might make a challenge next week to kick us off right!
  • District Governor multi Club visit- Visiting TRCC on 10/12 @ 7:30am. Please let Mary know if you want to attend either in person or via Zoom
  • Madonna Place Trivia- Friday, 11/10, but possibly moving to 11/9 due to Veterans Day being observed on 11/10.  More to come.

Happy Dollars:

  • Rodney- Happy for Chestnut Street Playhouse golf tourney next week
  • Stan- Dog, Stella ate some furniture in his truck
  • Bill- WalkTober happening with lots of walks planned in New England. Bill is leading a walk of Uncas Leap this Saturday, 9/30
  • Barry- Went to Les King’s Memorial service. Must have been 150 ppl in attendance. Will miss him. Got cookies delivered from his daughter for today’s meeting… Service Above Self!
  • Pat M- Happy to be here. Is not ready for retirement and is happy to still be working and doing social work
  • Mary- Welcomed our guests. Talked about car show stuff and almost got to drive a Lamborghini.  This spun off a whole car themed tangent for the rest of Happy Dollars
  • Gary- Just got back after a 16 hr drive up from TN visiting family in TN and SC
  • Mike M- Nephew moving back to CT from Tampa, FL. Nephew was nervous driving a truck and trailer, so Mike is flying down next week to drive them up
  • Molly- Took Brokers test and passed!
  • Cindy O- Her Dad left her his 1992 Rolls Royce. She stored it in her garage, but then the garage started taking in some water when raining.  She sold it and it’s now in a museum

Lottery- Rodney, Jim D and Cindy O all came up empty.  Kathryn was the big winner of the cookies and kindly shared with the Club
