William George Park was the third President of the Norwich Rotary Club, serving during 1922-23.
Mr. Park was the President of the Angus Park Woolen Company of Hanover, Connecticut. He was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada on February 17, 1889, the son of Angus and Elizabeth Park. The family immigrated to the Hanover area in 1894, and Park attended Windham High School.
He married the former Ruth Standish. The couple had one son, Angus William Park.
William Park served as the Norwich Rotary club’s delegate to the 1921 International Rotary Conference in Edinburg, Scotland. Mr. Park was the President of the Club when the club hosted the 1922 New England Conclave.
He later served as President of the Norwich Golf Club, and later of the Connecticut State Golf Association. He was also a director of the Thames Bank & Trust, Co. In addition, he was president of the Norwich Inn Co., the Uncas Finishing Corp., and vice-president of the Eastern Connecticut Board of Manufacturers.
Park was also a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Hanover Congregational Church.
He was honored at the 50th Anniversary of the club, held on May 23rd, 1970.
William Park passed away at his home in Hanover on November 29th, 1971.
Park’s home in Hanover is listed as a Historic Building of Connecticut.
